Jardins International is a landscape design firm located in Nantucket, Massachusetts. It has been in business in 2005. The firm specializes in residential landscape design and planning as well as in small commercial projects. Special emphasis is always given to the integration of the landscapes to the larger context within which they reside. Jardins Intl cares deeply about the health and inherent beauty of our natural environment, and aims to embrace these qualities and keep them as an integral part of the designs.
Elisabeth O'Rourke heads the firm with a degree in Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. O'Rourke graduated Suma Cum Laude, the first to do so in the history of the department. After graduation, she worked as the lead designer for a 50 person design build firm, and then went on to incept Jardins International, blending her love of art, landscape, culture, into the project Jardins Intl. create.
Maxime O’Rourke has been with Jardins International since 2012. O’Rourke has worked in the landscape industry since 2003, providing our firm with a decade of field experience. She attended Mount Holyoke College and went on to receive a Bachelors of Fine Arts from University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In her final semester she received the ‘Best in Show’ award of the Art & Architecture Department for her thesis work. In her collegiate education, she also pursued the fields of botany, forestry, environmental sustainability, and landscape photography, which all contribute to her sensitivity of design. O’Rourke’s understanding of plant species and visually dynamic art inform her landscape compositions. She creates gardens that are visually rich, in structure, color and texture, yet practical due to her years of working in the field. O’Rourke’s varied interests bring vibrancy to the design team.
